Ramadan is the month when the prophet Muhammad ﷺ received revelation. This came after spending years of His life meditating in the cave of Hera. Ramadan is often referred to as the 'Month of Mercy'The root word of womb in Arabic 'رحم' means mercy which in itself is an indicator of the feminine attributes of this holy month. Ramadan is a month full of feminine energy. Masculine energy is strong, giving, active, driven, and stable. Femininity is soft, subtle, receiving, and gentle. A lot of the energy that we work with daily is masculine (reaching goals, getting things done quickly, giving attention and energy). As women, we work from a place of ease and love when we are connected to our femininity and can have a stronger connection to our intuition, cycle, sensuality, and relationships with others when we do so. The attributes of Ramadan are the opposite of masculine. By fasting from food as well as intimacy, our ego is, in a way, forced to retreat and move at a much more feminine pace. For women, this is a priceless gift as life doesn't give us many opportunities to live in our feminine. There are activities and rituals that can be done every day to help strengthen our connections to our femininity which we will dive into soon. To know God we must first know ourselves and Ramadan is a beautiful and blessed opportunity to do just that.
