In the heart of the ancient Madina of Fes, during the gentlest months of spring, when the alleyways breathe rose and orange blossom and the earth itself begins to soften, we gather as women in companionship with sacred plant allies, prayer, scent, and remembrance.
The Garden of Fes is a deeply spiritual and feminine retreat rooted in Islamic tradition, Moroccan floral wisdom, and the subtle sciences of the heart and womb. It is an invitation to return to beauty, to tenderness.
It is a retreat of tending.
Through companionship with the rose (ward) and the zhar (orange blossom) we enter a slower rhythm, allowing fragrance, ritual, and presence to guide us back to ourselves and to God.

Plants are our teachers.
In springtime Fes, these flowers are not abstract ideas. Their scent drifts through the Madina streets, settles into stone walls, and lingers in the air. A reminder of history, memory, essence and cycles.
Through companionship with these plants, we remember that beauty itself is a path of worship.
What We Will Experience
Flower Companionship & Sacred Craft
• A distillation day working with rose and zhar (where seasonally applicable), learning the spiritual and practical dimensions of floral waters
• Exploration of rose and orange blossom in the Qur’an, Sunnah, and Islamic cosmology
• Understanding the energetic and mizaaj (temperament) of the rose and the zhar
• Apothecary making: rose-based medicines, oils, and remedies
• Bukhoor making using traditional resins and floral allies
Ritual, Healing & Rest
• A traditional Moroccan henna ceremony
• A day trip to Moulay Yaqoub sulphuric baths for purification and physical release
• Gentle spiritual reflections, dhikr, and sensory practices

Place & Atmosphere
We will be hosted in a beautiful riad in the heart of the Madina of Fes (with 2-3 sisters per en suite room), a city shaped by centuries of prayer, scholarship, craftsmanship, and feminine presence.
April is one of the most exquisite months in Fes. Soft sunlight, blossoming trees, cool mornings and warm afternoons and the scent of rose and orange blossom drifting through the alleyways.
The Madina itself becomes part of the retreat, holding us, slowing us, reminding us how to live in rhythm with the unseen.
